JOHN 8:31-32 NKJ
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.” 32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
To abide means to live, to continue, or to spend time somewhere. If you continue to spend time in Jesus' Word -- you will know the truth. When you know the truth, you will act on that knowledge -- and acting on the truth will make you free! We are not guaranteed instant results, although sometimes they do happen. Freedom is certain, however, if you stick with God's Word. Jesus gave His guarantee! “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”, John 14:13...and then He said it again!: “I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name”. John 16:23.
Those two promises that Jesus made in the Gospel of John go right along with the familiar teaching of John 3:16 “...No man goes unto the Father but by me.”
God's Word Is A Seed
You could plant hundreds of tomato seeds in a garden and never harvest one carrot. Why? You never planted any carrot seed! God's Word works the same way as a seed. The Word must be planted inside you to bear fruit in your life. Planting the seed from God's Word about spiritual rebirth does not mean you can expect a harvest of financial prosperity. Scriptures about prosperity must be planted in you, and watered, before you can expect a harvest of prosperity. Planting much seed from God's Word concerning health and healing, will not automatically give you a harvest of a successful marriage and family life. Each seed of God's Word has to be planted to produce fruit in your life in that area.
MATTHEW 4:4
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Take a hint from this! Jesus as a man defeated the Devil himself by speaking out loud the words written by the Spirit of God!)
ROMANS 10:17
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (How can we hear the word of God? Not just by reading it silently to ourselves, but by speaking it out loud!)
In Mark 4:30-31, Jesus explained that the kingdom of God works like a seed. So, if we are to understand God's kingdom and how He operates, we need to understand seeds.
